Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is the Romanian actress and television presenter. She's most famous as the protagonist of Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control as well as Rush. Born as the only daughter of Romanian acting star Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra got into showbiz early and landed up being the lead in a variety of shows on television by the time she reached the age of 16. After the critically-acclaimed performance in the television movie Der Tunnel, Alexandra went onto play several other acclaimed characters like Adolf Hitler's secretary, Traudljunge, in Downfall. The film won an Oscar and was praised by critics. Another Oscar nominated film starring the actress include The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Over the years Alexandra has worked in several significant international and local projects. The British biographical feature Control, the Greek Drama The Dust of Time, as well as the French historical mini-series Napoleon include among those. Additionally, she was an active member of the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
